Eat a Peach

This handmade print is a part of a series of hand drawn and digitally manipulated photo laser engraved intaglio prints and works on paper that are inspired by my father’s album collection.  As a child I used to spend hours sitting and gazing at these psychedelic images both curious and in fear of what I was discovering in those images.

Eat a Peach an album by the Allman Brothers Band contained a Hieronymous Bosch inspired gatefold mural created in 1972 by Powell and Holmes at Wonder Graphics. My version of this image contains a cabover tractor trailer like the ones my mother drove all over the country and the giant peach which to me represents the fruit from my father’s fruit farm. The naked strong woman flying through the sky on the back of a dragon-like creature represents my mother's struggles, and my father the sun, which nourishes all plant life.

I am interested in how different surfaces require different handling, although this is a laser engraved print, parts of the original image were drawn or digital collaged, the smoke was charcoal, the hands were graphite, and the peach was a digital photo.
