Amazonian Visions

This painting is sort of a culmination of many of the visions and feelings I had while taking Ayahuasca deep in the Jungle of Peru. Some of the visions were perhaps influenced by the combination of night sounds heard throughout the jungle as well as the Icaros (chanting and singing) of the shaman. At one point I was transformed into a deer, There was an ocean of hands, a myriad of staring alien faces in the darkness, colorful butterflies, dragon flies, and I basically learned to get along with the cockroaches in my cabana for the week. My process of painting involves layering images utilizing a variety of materials. This one primarily includes acrylic, ink and relief printmaking.
